Climate
It is always better to travel to the island from November to April.
The climate in Cuba is tropical, seasonally humid, with maritime influence and semi-continental features; however, other localized climatic times coexist in mountain systems and on coasts. It is defined in two periods: little rainy and rainy. Little rainy (November to April): Known as winter, variations in weather and climate become more noticeable, with sudden changes in daily weather, associated with the passage of frontal systems. It is more noticeable in the western half than in the eastern half. Rainy (May to October): Known as summer, there are few variations in time, the most important changes being due to the passing of eastern waves and tropical cyclones.
The Currency
The national currency is the Cuban Peso (CUP), which is equivalent to 100 cents. Notes of 1, 3, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1000 pesos circulate, as well as fractional coins of 1 and 3 pesos and 1, 2, 5 and 20 cents. When you travel to the island, the currency you will use will be the USD, that you will use to get access to all the products and services available. But you will have to pay most government run business in EUR or CAD since they cannot process payments in USD. The exchange of currencies for Cuban pesos (CUP), is according to the current exchange rate of the different currencies and according to their fluctuation in the world market, this is carried out at airports, banks, hotels, exchange houses (CADECA) and large stores or commercial centers. There is also a network of Banks and ATMs distributed in different locations in different tourist destinations. In Cuba some credit cards can be used (Visa, MasterCard, Access, Eurocard, Banamex, among others, with their specifications) as long as they are not from an american Bank, although it is recommended to always carry cash. It is very common that if you try to get a cash advance on your credit card, it will not work due to comminication issues most of the time.
